This report builds largely on presentations and discussions held during a series of regional workshops on reforming energy subsides, organised jointly by UNEP and the International Energy Agency (IEA) in 2000 and 2001. The workshops were largely financed by voluntary contributions for Austria, Canada, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.
