UN Environment Evaluation Office (2016)

This is a terminal evaluation of a UNEP GEF project implemented between 2010 and 2016. The project objective was to build a sustainable national Marine Protected Area Network for The Bahamas and thus enable it to meet its commitments under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) Programme of Work for Protected Areas (PoWPA) as well as other obligations under this Convention. Specifically, the objective of the project was to expand protected area coverage of globally significant marine biodiversity and increase the management effectiveness of the national marine protected area network across the Bahamian archipelago. The Terminal Evaluation was undertaken, following the completion of the project, to assess project performance (in terms of relevance, effectiveness and efficiency), and determine outcomes and impacts (actual and potential) stemming from the project, including their sustainability.
