This is a terminal evaluation of a UNEP GEF project implemented between 2010 and 2012. There were two overall Project objectives: to establish a scientifically rigorous and credible assessment of the performance of the implementation of the UNCCD at the national, sub-regional, regional and global levels; and to build/strengthen capacity and knowledge management systems for subsequent assessments and reporting. The evaluation had two primary purposes: to provide evidence of results to meet accountability requirements; and to promote learning, feedback, and knowledge sharing through results and lessons learned among UNEP, GEF and other partners.
