Terminal Evaluation of the UNEP-GEF Project: Establishment of efficient and effective data collection and reporting procedures for evaluating the continued need of DDT for disease vector control.

UNEP Evaluation Office (2020-04)

This report is a terminal evaluation of a UNEP-GEF project implemented between January 2011 and December 2014. The objective of the project was to protect human health and the environment by supporting the availability of data related to the use of DDT and its alternatives to enable proper evaluation of the continued need of DDT in malaria vector control. The evaluation sought to assess project performance (in terms of relevance, effectiveness and efficiency), and determine outcomes and impacts (actual and potential) stemming from the project, including their sustainability. The evaluation has two primary purposes: (i) to provide evidence of results to meet accountability requirements, and (ii) to promote learning, feedback, and knowledge sharing through results and lessons learned among UNEP, WHO, the GEF, the Secretariat of the Stockholm Convention, and the participating countries.
