This report attempts to summarise the information available about the State of the Marine Environment in the West and Central Africa region. The area is large and in many respects, inhomogeneous e.g. linguistically and developmentally as well as having obvious climatic and hydrographic differences. It is perhaps therefore not surprising that the level of information available varies markedly from country to country.
