dc.descriptionThe Plan of Action to Combat Desertification in Syria highlights the gravity of the desertification problems encountered in the various Syrian environmental regions, notably the soil erosion in coastal ranges, the misuse of the agricultural lands, the over-grazing in the range areas, the salinization of the irrigated lands in the Euphrates valley, the sand dunes fixation in the dry areas and the soil water and air pollution problems. Recommendations were given to the Syrian Government regarding high priority to combat desertification aspects and to improve the quality of life in the countryen_US
