The paper gives an overview of current differences in terms of water resources predicament between 26 world regions, focusing on three dimensions of water stress (natural, technical and demographic). It discuss the future of global food security in terms of the amounts of water needed and the possibility to mobilize those amounts I different developing regions. The paper closes with some principal comments on key strategies.
