dc.descriptionThis study was made in connection with the proposed ASEAN/UNEP Workshop on Environmental Quality Management for Small and Medium Scale Industries in Urban Areas. The study's objective was to prepare background paper for the workshop in accordance with the following terms of reference: To assess the environmental quality management situation and needs of small and medium scale industries in urban areas of ASEAN countries. Such industries may include, but are not limited to, electroplating, paints manufacturing, battery manufacturing, and foundries. To evaluate the problems both technical and economic which so far had prevented effective abatement measures by the industries, and present regulatory practices of government. To recommend joint collaborative programmes for ASEAN which will improve the environmental quality management of small and medium scale industries in urban areas of ASEAN countries.en_US
