To achieve comprehensive protection and effective management of the global blue carbon ecosystems, reverse the degradation trend, maintain marine biodiversity, and improve carbon sequestration capacity; Large-scale restoration of damaged habitats, significantly increasing the global blue carbon ecosystems’ area and carbon sequestration capacity, and improving the ability of coastal communities to adapt to climate change; Using marine primary productivity such as macro-algae to mitigate the effects of climate change in a manner that does not affect food production, to promote sustainable economic and social development; Systematically accounting for the value of the blue carbon ecosystems, establishing a value realization mechanism; realizing the value of blue carbon ecological products through market mechanisms, and promoting poverty alleviation and sustainable development of the community.
