The Pulp and Paper industry is one of the major industrial sectors agreed for examination. Consultations have been undertaken with experts nominated by Governments, Industry and international governmental and non-governmental organizations, culminating in a Seminar, held in Paris on March 1975, where the state of the art of existing remedies, problems outstanding and possible avenues of research and development to resolve these environmental issues were assessed. This report gives a synthesis of the evaluation that has taken place, and highlights the decision and policy aspects that pertain to major environmental issues emanating from the Pulp and Paper Industry.
