This report is a terminal evaluation of a UN Environment project “World Heritage inscription process as a tool to enhance natural and cultural resources management of the Iraqi Marshlands” implemented between 2009 and 2016. The project's overall development goal was to ensure sustainable development of the Iraqi Marshlands, reflecting the unique historical, cultural, environmental, hydrological and socio-economic characteristics of the area, in particular utilizing the World Heritage inscription process as a tool to develop and implement a management framework.
