Evaluation of the Portfolio of five GEF funded UN Environment projects on Access and Benefit Sharing

The synthesis evaluation report is based on evaluation findings of five GEF funded, UN Environment projects implemented between 2011 and 2015; Capacity Building for the early entry into force of the Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing (GEF ID: 4415), Supporting the Development and Implementation of Access and Benefit Sharing Policies in Africa (GEF ID: 2820), Building Capacity for Regionally Harmonized National Processes for Implementing CBD Provisions on Access to Genetic Resources and Sharing of Benefits (GEF ID: 3853), Strengthening the implementation of ABS regimes in Latin America and the Caribbean (GEF ID: 3855), and Strengthening the Implementation of the Biological Diversity Act and Rules with Focus on its Access and Benefit Sharing Provisions (GEF ID: 3801). The synthesis evaluation report presents key findings from the evaluations of these five projects to provide evidence of results to meet accountability requirements, as well as presenting the key lessons learned stemming from the evaluation findings to promote learning, feedback, and knowledge sharing through results and lessons learned among UN Environment, the GEF and their executing partners and the relevant agencies of the projects’ participating countries.
