El presente informe es el primero sobre Centroamérica de la serie GEO, auspiciada por el Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Medio Ambiente (PNUMA), y su oficina regional para América Latina y el Caribe, con sede en Ciudad de México. Aunque tiene su punto de partida en el enfoque de “evaluación ambiental integrada”, común a la familia GEO, introduce una nueva perspectiva de análisis territorial que enriquece y a la vez vuelve más complejo y demandante el estudio.
